1. The District overseer of Born-again Pentecostal

Pastor
Robert Mwesigye is married to Edith Tusiime, with six children; Juliet, Judith,
Anna, Nobert, Phenehas and Joshua. He grew up in a remote area of Kitooma,
Kitagwenda in South-Western Uganda. Born to Annania Katabarwa a Catechist in an
Anglican Church, Robert grew up in a God fearing Family.
, Annania Katabarwa, Robert’s father was a very
generous and a kind person. He used to aid the poor and the needy by giving out
food, clothing, school fees and aiding the sick people. It was an experience
which greatly motivated and shaped Robert’s future life. Robert’s father,
Annania died in 1994 when Robert himself was by then a youth Pastor. The
memories of Annania, left a strong impact on Robert’s future life. However, in
1995, Robert Mwesigye had a calling from God; ‘Robert! Robert! Robert!, I am
calling you to serve my people’. The call came around 3:00am in the wee hours
of the morning. Robert got the Vision of starting a church, which he did so in
the year of 1997. He started with three old women; Maria (RIP), Farabia and
Joyce in a grass thatched Church. People were coming one by one and in the year
1999, Robert managed to put up a semi-permanent building of 25 iron sheets,
housing at least 30 people. As the congregation increased, Robert with his
church members, through fundraising devised means of putting up a bigger church
which is currently housing at least 600 people.
It
has not all been easy. The church is
located in a remote area of poor people with high rate of illiteracy, bringing
people to God who had beliefs in witchcraft and fetish with a cultural
background was not easy. But Robert had a calling from God to carry on and face
the challenges.
